    Image

Mae Hwb Gwyddorau Bywyd Cymru wedi lansio cyfres ddiddorol o astudiaethau achos digidol sy’n tynnu sylw at arloesi canser yng Nghymru. Mae’r gyfres hon, sy’n cynnwys prosiectau arloesol gan QuicDNA a CanSense, yn dangos ymrwymiad i hyrwyddo gofal canser drwy dechnolegau a dulliau arloesol.

Life Sciences Hub Wales have launched a captivating series of digital case studies spotlighting cancer innovations happening in Wales. Featuring pioneering projects from QuicDNA and CanSense, this series demonstrates a commitment to advancing cancer care through innovative technologies and approaches.

Mae gwella canlyniadau canser yng Nghymru yn flaenoriaeth. Mae Hwb Gwyddorau Bywyd Cymru yn gweithio gydag iechyd, gofal cymdeithasol, y byd academaidd a diwydiant i gyflymu’r gwaith o ddatblygu atebion arloesol ar gyfer gofal canser. Mae’r gyfres hon o fideos yn tynnu sylw at waith rhyfeddol QuicDNA a CanSense, gan ganolbwyntio ar ddatblygiadau ym maes canfod yn gynnar a thriniaethau wedi’u targedu. Mae gan y datblygiadau arloesol hyn y potensial i achub bywydau, gwella canlyniadau cleifion, a lleihau straen ar systemau gofal iechyd.

Improving cancer outcomes in Wales is a priority. Life Sciences Hub Wales are working with health, social care, academia and industry to accelerate the development of pioneering cancer care solutions. This video series highlights the remarkable work of QuicDNA and CanSense, focusing on advancements in early detection and targeted treatments. These innovations have the potential to save lives, improve patient outcomes, and reduce strain on healthcare systems

Mae’r fideos astudiaeth achos yn cynnwys dau brosiect arwyddocaol:

QuicDNA: Mae’r prosiect hwn yn cynnwys partneriaid traws-sector a chyllidwyr i sicrhau cyrhaeddiad ac effaith eang technoleg biopsi hylif. Mae biopsi hylif yn ddewis arall syml ac anymwthiol yn lle biopsïau tiwmor llawfeddygol a wneir drwy brawf gwaed, neu gellir ei ddefnyddio i ategu biopsi tiwmor i gwtogi’r amser at driniaeth. Mae’r fideo hefyd yn cynnwys gwybodaeth gan Craig Maxwell, sy’n trafod effaith y prosiect hwn, a phwysigrwydd ymdrechion codi arian parhaus.

The case study videos feature two significant projects:

QuicDNA: This project involves cross-sector partners and funders to ensure the widespread reach and impact of liquid biopsy technology. A liquid biopsy is a simple and non-invasive alternative to surgical tumour biopsies done through a blood test or can be used to complement tumour biopsy to shorten the time to treatment. The video also features insights from Craig Maxwell, discussing the impact of this project, and the importance of ongoing fundraising efforts.

“Rwy’n credu bod Craig wedi bod yn gwbl unigryw yn hyn o beth. Mae wedi manteisio ar y cyfle, er bod ganddo ddiagnosis datblygedig o ganser, i ddweud beth y gall ei wneud i wella’r system a gwella canlyniadau i gleifion sy’n dod ar ei ôl. Sy’n ysbrydoliaeth i’r gweddill ohonom. Mae’n ein hysbrydoli i weithio’n fwy effeithiol ledled Cymru.” Yr Athro Tom Crosby, Cyfarwyddwr Clinigol Canser Cymru.

CanSense: cwmni technoleg feddygol newydd sy’n canolbwyntio ar ddatblygu prawf gwaed ar gyfer diagnosis anymwthiol o ganser y coluddyn, gan ddefnyddio modelau sy’n cael eu gyrru gan ddeallusrwydd artiffisial. Canser y colon a’r rhefr, sydd hefyd yn cael ei alw yn ganser y coluddyn, yw’r trydydd canser mwyaf cyffredin yn fyd-eang, ac mae’n cyfrif am tua 10% o’r holl ddiagnosis o ganser a’r ail brif achos o farwolaethau sy’n gysylltiedig â chanser ledled y byd.

“I think Craig has been absolutely quite unique in this. He’s taken the opportunity, albeit with an advanced diagnosis of cancer, to say what can he do to improve both the system and improve outcomes for patients coming after him. Which is quite inspirational for the rest of us. He’s inspiring us to work more effectively across Wales.” Professor Tom Crosby, Cancer Clinical Director for Wales.

CanSense: med-tech startup focused on developing a blood-based assay for the non-invasive diagnosis of bowel cancer using AI-driven models. Colorectal cancer, also known as bowel cancer, ranks as the third most common cancer globally, accounting for approximately 10% of all cancer diagnoses and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.

Mae cleifion yn deall prawf gwaed CanSense: mae’n syml, yn dderbyniol ac yn cael ei ffafrio’n gryf dros golonosgopïau diangen. Mae gallu’r prawf i ganfod arwyddion cynharaf canser yn anhygoel o gyffrous. Mae’r hyn y mae CanSense yn ei wneud yn newid y dirwedd o ran sut rydyn ni’n canfod canser er gwell. Mae’n lle cyffrous iawn i fod ar hyn o bryd.” Yr Athro Dean Harris, Cyfarwyddwr Clinigol CanSense.

Gall canser atal pobl rhag byw bywydau iachach a hirach, a chynyddu’r pwysau ar y system iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol. Drwy yrru arloesi ym maes gwyddorau bywyd i reng flaen gofal, gallwn helpu i wella’r canlyniadau hyn.

“Mae gofal canser yng Nghymru yn datblygu, ond mae heriau’n parhau. Drwy arddangos datblygiadau arloesol fel QuicDNA a CanSense, ein nod yw ysbrydoli a dangos sut gall technolegau arloesol drawsnewid sut mae canser yn cael ei ganfod a’i drin. Mae partneriaethau ar draws iechyd, gofal cymdeithasol a diwydiant yn hanfodol. Rydyn ni’n meithrin cydweithio i gyflymu’r gwaith o gyflwyno atebion arloesol ar gyfer gofal canser.” – Cari-Anne Quinn, Prif Weithredwr Hwb Gwyddorau Bywyd Cymru

Mae Cymru ar agor ar gyfer busnes, ac rydym yn annog partneriaid yn y diwydiant sydd ag atebion arloesol i ofal canser i ymuno â ni yn y frwydr yn erbyn canser. Cyflwynwch eich syniadau arloesol yma: Ffurflen ymholiadau am arloesi | Gwyddorau Bywyd (lshubwales.com)

“Patients understand the CanSense blood test: it’s simple, acceptable and strongly preferred over unnecessary colonoscopies. The ability of the test to detect the earliest signs of cancer is incredibly exciting. What CanSense is doing is really changing the landscape of how we detect cancer for good. It’s a really exciting place to be at the moment.” Professor Dean Harris, Clinical Directory of CanSense.

Cancer can prevent people from living healthier and longer lives and increase pressures on the health and social care system. By driving life science innovation to the frontline of care, we can help improve these outcomes.

“Cancer care in Wales is advancing, but challenges remain. By showcasing innovations like QuicDNA and CanSense, we aim to inspire and show how innovative technologies can transform cancer detection and treatment. Partnerships across health, social care, and industry are vital. We foster collaboration to accelerate the deployment of innovative cancer care solutions.” – Cari-Anne Quinn, CEO, Life Sciences Hub Wales
